On August 25, 2024, during an event attended by Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, Vietcombank made a VND 5 billion donation to the “Eliminating Temporary and Dilapidated Houses” program in the Central Highlands province of Lam Dong.

At the ceremony, Ms. Phung Nguyen Hai Yen, Deputy General Director of Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Foreign Trade of Vietnam (Vietcombank), presented the donation on behalf of the bank. This contribution supports a program initiated by Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, who is also the Chairman of the Central Emulation and Reward Council. The initiative aims to eliminate temporary and dilapidated housing by 2025.

The goal is to mobilize the construction and repair of 170,000 homes for poor and near-poor households nationwide, ultimately eradicating such housing conditions across the country by 2025.

The Prime Minister emphasized that this initiative aligns with the Party and State's policies on social security. He reiterated the commitment to placing people at the center of development efforts - recognizing them as both the goal and the driving force. He stressed the importance of pursuing balanced growth that ensures progress, fairness, social security, and environmental harmony, rather than focusing solely on economic gains and leaving anyone behind.

Over the past five years, Vietcombank has invested over VND2,252 billion in social security initiatives across the country. This includes more than VND427 billion allocated to building gratitude houses, solidarity houses, and homes for the underprivileged.
