For the first time in Vietnam, customers of Vietcombank can use the VCB Digibank app to make QR code payments in more than 50 countries worldwide, including major destinations such as China, South Korea, Malaysia and Singapore.

The launch comes shortly after the bank introduced an expanded Vietnam–China QR payment service for Chinese tourists visiting Vietnam on April 3, 2026. Building on that milestone, Vietcombank has now partnered with Alipay+ to roll out cross-border QR payments for Vietnamese individual customers. With this service, users can simply rely on the VCB Digibank app to pay abroad as easily as they do at home.

Customers experience seamless cross-border QR payments

With the new feature, Vietcombank becomes the first Vietnamese bank to offer QR payment services across more than 50 countries and territories, covering key Asian markets as well as parts of Europe and the Americas. The rollout reflects the growing collaboration between Vietcombank and Alipay+, one of the world’s leading cross-border payment platforms.

Using the service is straightforward. Customers open the VCB Digibank app, scan a QR code at checkout - or allow the merchant to scan their personal QR code - then authenticate the transaction to complete payment. There is no need to carry foreign currency, and exchange rates are displayed instantly before confirmation. All transactions are recorded in the app, making it easy for users to track their spending throughout their trip.

For Vietnamese travelers heading to China - one of the most popular destinations in Asia - this development is particularly significant. With more than 80 million acceptance points across Alipay+’s network in China, Vietcombank customers can make payments seamlessly without exchanging renminbi or carrying physical cards.
