Vietcombank highlights affluent banking strategy and Apple Pay rollout in talks with BDO Unibank and Visa

On March 19, 2026, Vietcombank hosted a working session with BDO Unibank and Visa to exchange insights on developing the affluent customer segment - a key growth pillar in modern retail banking - as well as its experience in rolling out Apple Pay. BDO Unibank is the largest bank in the Philippines by total assets and a leader in the country’s credit card market.

Speaking at the session, Doan Hong Nhung, Head of Retail Banking at Vietcombank, said: “We are delighted to welcome our partners to Vietcombank to share our experience in developing the affluent segment and implementing Apple Pay. Both affluent customers and mobile payments play a particularly important role in our retail banking strategy.”

Nhung presented an overview of their journey in building and expanding the affluent customer segment in Vietnam, including tailoured offerings such as Visa Signature and Visa Infinite cards designed specifically for this group.

Regarding Apple Pay, the bank also shared its collaboration process and strategic approach as an early mover in mobile payments. This initiative has delivered positive results in strengthening customer engagement and enhancing the overall user experience.

At the session, Jeff Navarro, Visa Country Manager for the Philippines, noted: “Engaging directly with institutions that have successfully implemented these models, such as Vietcombank, provides valuable practical insights for Visa’s partners in the Philippines.”

Nannette Regala, Head of Retail Banking Products and Marketing at BDO Unibank, also shared perspectives on developing the retail banking market in the Philippines.

The meeting was initiated at the proposal of Visa and BDO Unibank, following earlier discussions at the Visa Philippines Forum X-Pays 2025, where Vietcombank made a strong impression with its insights on digital payment solutions.

Representatives from all parties highly valued Vietcombank’s experience in building a modern payments ecosystem and cultivating the affluent customer segment. They also expressed interest in expanding cooperation in areas such as card product development, digital payments, and cross-border financial services.
