Throughout the country, Vietcombank has consistently engaged in numerous charitable activities, collaborating with local authorities and communities in northern provinces and cities to tackle the challenges posed by storms and floods.
Recently, severe storms and floods have caused extensive damage in several northern provinces and cities. The Vietcombank network has been impacted, with 41 branches directly affected by the adverse weather conditions. Consequently, some branches, transaction offices, and ATMs have experienced temporary suspensions or interruptions in service.
In response to Storm No. 3 and the accompanying floods, Vietcombank has taken proactive measures to mitigate the damage. These efforts have played a crucial role in safeguarding both people and property, while ensuring uninterrupted business operations and continued customer service. However, preliminary assessments indicate that many Vietcombank customers have suffered losses due to these natural disasters.
To swiftly support and assist individuals and businesses in recovering from the damage caused by recent storms and floods, Vietcombank has introduced a policy to reduce lending interest rates by up to 0.5% from September 6, 2024, to December 31, 2024. This reduction applies to both existing and new loans for production and business activities affected by Storm No. 3 in the impacted regions. The aim is to help businesses and individuals stabilize their operations and lives while accessing bank credit. This policy is expected to ease difficulties for nearly 20,000 customers, with a total outstanding debt of approximately VND130 trillion, and provide support amounting to up to VND100 billion.
Beyond this direct financial support, Vietcombank has actively engaged in various initiatives to address the aftermath of the storms and floods. On September 10, 2024, Vietcombank, in collaboration with Vietnam Banking Trade Union, donated VND2 billion to aid those affected by Storm No. 3 through the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front. Additionally, the Vietcombank Trade Union has mobilized employees across the system to contribute one day's salary, totaling over VND10 billion, to support affected communities and officials in distress. Charitable activities continue nationwide as Vietcombank remains committed to helping those in need.
