On July 15, 2024, the Ho Chi Minh City Stock Exchange revealed the updated list of stocks for the Vietnam Sustainability Index, effective August 5, 2024. Vietcombank proudly retains its status as a leading green financial institution, being named among the top 20 companies with the best sustainability index for the second consecutive year.
Launched by HOSE in collaboration with the German International Cooperation Organisation and the State Securities Commission in July 2017, the VNSI Index was created to recognize businesses that excel in sustainable development and to gauge sustainable investment performance in the stock market. As of April 2024, the VNSI Index had risen to 1,988.54 points, a 97.8% increase from its initial value. The total market capitalization of the 20 companies in the VNSI portfolio reached over VND1.7 trillion VND, or approximately US$70 billion, accounting for 35.8% of the entire market’s capitalization. Vietcombank stands out as the largest capitalized company on the index and in the broader market, with a valuation nearing $20 billion.
This achievement underscores Vietcombank's commitment to sustainable development, transparency, and community value creation. The 2024 assessment highlights significant progress across environmental, social, and governance dimensions, reflecting Vietcombank's ongoing efforts to become the leading ESG-focused bank in Vietnam.
With a vision for 2030 to maintain its position as the top bank in Vietnam and rank among the world’s 200 largest banking and financial groups and 700 largest listed enterprises, Vietcombank is committed to making significant contributions to Vietnam's sustainable development. The bank aims to lead in environmental, social, and corporate governance by implementing its Environmental and Social Management System and Environmental and Social Risk Management System, in alignment with Vietnam's VNSI Standards and international ESG goals. Throughout this journey, Vietcombank will rely on its core cultural values—"Trust, Standard, Innovation, Durability, and Humanity" - as guiding principles to navigate challenges and achieve long-term success.
