Vietcombank warns of scams impersonating the bank's races

According to Vietcombank, fake fanpages resembling their marathon events have surfaced on social media in recent months, aiming to scam people looking to register to appropriate their assets.

Specifically, these fanpages misuse Vietcombank's logo, race information, and images which Vietcombank organised or sponsored to gain trust, urging users to transfer money for registration. Scammers also prompt victims to join messaging app groups like Zalo or Telegram, where they're instructed to complete tasks for additional perks such as free transportation and race-day meals.

Tasks typically involve purchasing products, transferring money to designated accounts, and promising immediate refunds. Initially, scammers reimburse victims with profits from initial transactions, gradually increasing the amount transferred. Once a substantial sum is obtained, scammers cut off contact with victims.

Vietcombank confirms that it currently does not organize any races that require entry fees. Races organized or co-sponsored by Vietcombank are exclusively listed on the official website https://www.vietcombank.com.vn, and the sole official fanpage is https://facebook.com/ilovevcb. Any other registration methods are fraudulent.

The bank advises customers and the public to thoroughly verify the legitimacy of any Marathon race registration on social networks. This includes researching the organizer's license, legal status, and verifying the authenticity of the fanpage before making any payment. Customers should never transfer money to any account without fully understanding the account holder's details and the purpose of the transaction.
