According to Decision No. 2345/QD-NHNN issued by the State Bank of Vietnam on December 18, 2012, certain types of online transactions for individual customers will require biometric identification authentication, currently done through facial recognition. These transactions include: transferring money within banks to different owners' accounts, domestic interbank money transfers, e-wallet deposits exceeding VND10 million per transaction or 10 million VND or less per transaction but with a total daily transaction value exceeding VND10 million, transferring money overseas, paying invoices for goods and services with a daily transaction value exceeding VND20 million, and activating digital banking services for the first time or changing devices to use digital banking applications.

3 simple ways to update biometric information at Vietcombank

CURRENTLY, CUSTOMERS CAN REGISTER/UPDATE BIOMETRIC INFORMATION IN THREE SIMPLE AND QUICK WAYS ON VCB DIGIBANK AS FOLLOWS:

Firstly, customers can easily update their biometrics through an App-to-App connection between the VCB Digibank application and the level 2 Electronic Indentification (VNeID) application. To do this, simply log in to the VCB Digibank application, navigate to the “Utilities” section, select “Update Biometrics”, and choose “VNeID” from the options provided. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the process. Please ensure that you have a level 2 VNeID electronic identification account and that your VCB Digibank application is up to date.

Secondly, customers can update their biometrics online using NFC connection between their chip-embedded Citizen Identification Card and their phone. To proceed, access the VCB Digibank application, go to the “Utilities"” section, select “Update Biometrics”, and choose “chip-based citizen ID card”. Follow the prompts on the screen to complete the update.

Thirdly, Vietcombank provides the option to update biometric information directly at their transaction points.

FOR FOREIGN CUSTOMERS

For foreign customers, as chip-based citizen ID cards are not applicable and information is not available in the National Population Database, it is necessary to visit any of Vietcombank's transaction points in person. To authenticate the facial portrait image, foreign customers should bring their passport and documents that verify their valid residence period.

To ensure foreign customers are well informed, Vietcombank has sent detailed notifications through OTT messages directly within the VCB Digibank application.
